On the hilltops of the Gier valley
Neither a town nor a village, Saint-Martin-La-Plaine could be described as a big town centre.

Some history
The village of Saint-Martin-La-Plaine used to be well-known all over France and in North Africa for the chains, nails and other wrought iron work and hardware items that the blacksmith peasants tirelessly made during the long winter months.
