Not far from the Pilat
Situated near Pilat Regional Nature Park, La Grand’Croix can be identified from its natural setting and its greenery.





Some history
In 1546, a large cross, erected at the top of the Pont Vieux arch, gave its name to the hamlet in Saint-Paul-en-Jarez called «village of the large cross». This cross was situated at the exit of Lorette, at the entrance to the village.

The cross
It is a true symbol of the town; and it satisfies the curiosity of passers-by and allows the inhabitants to remember the origin of their commune’s name.

The power hammer
Situated at the entrance of the La Platière site, this element is part of the industrial heritage.

The fresco
It is just off the motorway and retraces the mining activity depicting metallic shorings.
