With a proud industrial history, Saint-Etienne is now a city which is centred on shows and culture and which focuses on contemporary creation. It has three renowned museums:

- Le Musée de la Mine (mining museum)

The cultural life of the Saint Etienne region is also driven by shows taking place on the stages of the Esplanade Opéra Théâtre, the Comédie de Saint-Étienne and the imposing 7200 seat Zénith.
